How to Find the CFO of Any Indian Listed Company

HeadhuntCFO · 2 September 2026 · 1 min read

Four reliable public sources for identifying a company's current chief financial officer — and the traps that produce stale names.

Finding who currently runs finance at a listed company sounds trivial and often isn't. Names change, search results lag, profiles go stale. Here are the sources that hold up.

1. The annual report

The most authoritative single document. Key managerial personnel are named, and where the CFO is also a director you get remuneration, board committees and tenure alongside the name. The catch: it reflects the year it covers, so a recent appointment won't appear.

2. Exchange announcements

BSE and NSE filings report appointments and resignations of key managerial personnel, usually within days. This is where you catch a change the annual report hasn't reflected — the fastest authoritative source.

3. Investor-relations pages

Company IR and leadership pages are usually current, though quality varies and smaller companies update slowly.

4. Results and CEO/CFO certification

The certification accompanying quarterly results carries the signing CFO's name — a useful check that the person is in post now.

The traps

Stale search results are the big one: a name that ranked well two years ago may have moved. Title ambiguity matters too — "Group CFO", "Director (Finance)" and "CFO & Whole-time Director" can coexist in one organisation. And general web profiles are self-reported, so treat them as a lead, not a fact.

The shortcut

Rather than working four sources per company, search any listed company on HeadhuntCFO and read the current, filing-sourced profile — name, role, industry and a factual summary, plus the full dossier (compensation, KPI drivers, debt profile, board influence) when you need it.
